A Glimpse Through the Knights Armour

2025

A Glimpse Through the Knight’s Armour at Konsthallen ABC Studio during Stockholm Craft Week 2025

Sewn work in polyester, tulle and organza.

190 x 310 cm

A window opens onto the performance of masculinity, where rituals and performative gestures weave together the fragile layers of identity. Here, forms of manhood are expressed in an ongoing interplay between tradition and transformation.

A Glimpse Through the Knight’s Armour was one of the works included in the group exhibition “Konst i Ån” in 2025 in Norrtälje, curated annually by Norrtälje Konsthall

Jeanne d´Arc

2025

65 x 120 cm

Sublimated, quilted, and beaded work in cotton and polyester. Joan of Arc is one of many women throughout history who disguised themselves as men, challenging traditional gender roles. By performing masculinity, women throughout time — and I myself in my artistic practice — have challenged the patriarchy and claimed space within male-dominated contexts.

Toxic Masculinity

2025

100 x 100 cm

Quilted and embroidered work in
polyester and cotton.

The Rites of Manhood
- a performative embodiment

2024

The Rites of Manhood was a part of the exhibition “På Tapeten” during Stockholm Craft Week 2024

The work explores the role of textiles in the staging of masculinity, with a focus on secret societies for men.

Sweden has the highest number of gentlemen’s clubs per capita in Europe.

The Rites of Manhood investigates how objects and spaces contribute to gender affirmation. The spatial installation is activated through a performance interpreting the Freemasons’ initiation ritual. The project highlights the performative nature of masculinity within gentlemen’s clubs and fraternal orders, as well as in society at large.

In May 2024, I was awarded a scholarship from the Freemasons, which I declined. This act became a continuation of the work itself.

The performance "The Rites of Manhood" was presented at “Salong Rosa Rummet” at Under Bron.

Crafting Bodies

2024

80 x 110 cm

Machine-knitted work in wool.

The piece allows the feminine-coded, caring, and time-consuming act of knitting to meet the aggressive, hard masculine. I disarm toxic masculinity through the medium of textile. The work was exhibited at Liljevalchs Spring Salon 2024 and later at Vällingby Kulturhus in 2025.

Quilt Eastwood

2024

100 x 100 cm

Sublimated and quilted work in cotton and polyester.

Quilt Eastwood is a piece in which the expressive qualities of textile disarm toxic masculinity, here represented by the actor Clint Eastwood. Humor and color also serve to disarm the “tough man.” The title is a play on the word quilt, the technique used to
create the work. Quilting produces a soft expression – and softness is the hard man’s greatest fear. Quilt Eastwood was shown at Liljevalchs Spring Salon 2024.

Aggressive Textile

2022

Aggressive Textile was shown at the Swedish Sports Museum (Riksidrottsmuseet) in Stockholm as part of the exhibition “The Ring Beyond the Mat”, curated by Ashik Zaman and Koshik Zaman - 2022

Aggressive Textile is a performative work that stages hypermasculinity through an examination of wrestling culture. The piece is an indulgence in sports aesthetics, primary colors, and aggression — a meeting between gender theory, extreme sports, and textile craft. The performance explores the relationship between masculinity and textile, as I embody a wrestler warming up and transforming into his alter ego.
